The Driver Operator (D/O) holds the responsibility for the safe operation of the rescue and firefighting services (RFFS) operational firefighting vehicles. The D/O must promptly follow the instructions of the vehicle crew commander during both operational emergencies and practice simulations, ensuring a swift and safe response for firefighting teams to reach the emergency site, as well as guaranteeing the immediate provision of media operations during emergency situations.

Experience

  • Procedural compliance.
  • Engage in fire and rescue operations, adhering to directives from the shift and crew commander to guarantee operational effectiveness and reduce harm to life and property.
  • All emergency vehicle operations.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of firefighting media in vehicles at all times.
  • Complete all vehicle inventory checks at the start of duty or during vehicle changeovers, promptly reporting any discrepancies to the vehicle crew commander.
  • Perform comprehensive daily maintenance inspections of firefighting vehicles to ensure they are operationally serviceable.
  • Report all vehicle discrepancies to the vehicle crew commander.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency in vehicle firefighting operations
  • Possess acknowledged qualifications and experience in RFFS vehicle operation and firefighting tasks
  • Successful completion and verification of the RFFS Driver Operator Structured Learning Program (SLP)
  • Successful attainment of FIA ADP Level 2 Certification
  • Must possess a valid FIA Radiotelephony Certification
